Gerard King is Managing Director and an expert witness at King Planning and has over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry.
Since establishing King Planning in 1993, Gerard has developed a reputation as one of the leaders in the industry for providing expert witness services in arbitration and legal proceedings; forensic analysis and claim advisory services; dispute advice; construction planning and programming services; quality assurance support; and training services.
In particular, Gerard is a highly experienced expert witness who has successfully testified in numerous arbitrations and legal proceedings across Australia and internationally. In that capacity, Gerard has worked closely alongside major Australian and international law firms and inhouse legal teams as well as prominent barristers from numerous countries. For these reasons, Gerard is routinely sort after for the provision of expert witness services.
Prior to the establishment of King Planning, Gerard was a Construction Planning Engineer and Project Manager. This provides him with the practical, on-site experience required to provide informed, considered and accurate advice.

David Murphy is General Manager and a Principal of King Planning. Commencing in 1997, he has been with King Planning for over 20 years.
David’s experience in the construction industry dates to 1991 when he commenced as a site engineer. His background also includes roles in design and project management as well as business development management at major Australian construction companies. He brings a wealth of construction related experience to King Planning.
Due to David’s background in programming and project management, he is routinely called upon to carry out detailed forensic claims and programming analyses. He has provided expert reports in numerous matters and participated in mediations and expert determinations.
David has worked on projects in Australia, Hong Kong, Qatar, South Africa and New Zealand and has expertise across mining and resources, building and construction, utilities infrastructure and energy, heavy industry and transport industries.

Ian Townson Principal
Ian Townson is a Principal and an expert witness at King Planning and has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry.
Ian brings with him expertise in project and contract management processes with particular specialisation in the development and implementation of control systems for time, cost and performance management. He has an in-depth understanding of design and construction processes including delivery strategies for civil, building, rail, process and heavy engineering projects.
Ian has been engaged for his expertise in construction and project controls on a number of large commercial engagements in varying capacities. From these assignments and other industry engagements, Ian has gained an intimate knowledge of what, why and how events affect the physical and commercial outcomes of projects, what is important in the successful delivery of projects and programmes of work and what forensic planning methodologies are best suited to matters in dispute.

Paul Bottle Principal
Paul Bottle is a Principal at King Planning where he commenced in 2011. A Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, he has extensive experience in the construction industry, primarily as a Quantity Surveyor, Contract Administrator and Senior Commercial Manager for a variety of construction companies both within Australia and the UK.
Paul has been involved in the construction industry for over 30 years, commencing as a Contract Administrator in 1986. He has undertaken a varied portfolio of successful projects for large national construction companies.
Paul has acquired extensive skills as a forensic analyst in construction disputes, in particular delay and disruption claims. Matt King is a Senior Consultant at King Planning and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Sustainable Development) and Law. He joined King Planning in 2013. Prior to joining King Planning, Matt was a Senior Associate in the construction law team of a national law firm. He commenced working in construction law in 2005.
As a lawyer, Matt worked in a variety of dispute forums, including Court of Appeal and Supreme Court litigation, international arbitration, mediation, adjudication under security of payment legislation and tribunal-based litigation. He also has extensive experience in contract drafting and has provided legal advice to developers, contractors, subcontractors and consultants in relation to a wide range of construction related issues. He has acted for and been seconded to some of Australia’s largest construction contractors.
During his time at King Planning, Matt has primarily provided forensic analysis services and dispute advice in relation to a wide variety of time related matters, including delay and disruption. He has extensive experience in the analysis and preparation of claim material and routinely provides support in King Planning’s delivery of expert witness services. Gary Cox is a Senior Consultant at King Planning, which he joined in 2012, and has both extensive programming and claims experience.
Gary has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, commencing as a self-employed carpenter and builder in 1993. Since that time, he has held various positions such as project manager, contract administrator, senior project engineer and planner including at major Australian construction companies. His knowledge of the construction industry has put him in excellent stead to implement practices focused on outcomes.
Gary is conversant in all forms of programming software including Primavera P3 and P6, Suretrak, ASTA Power Project and Microsoft Project. He is also skilled in the operation of Auto Cad. Clare Kenny is a Senior Consultant at King Planning and commenced in 2013. Clare was admitted to the legal profession in 2009 after attaining a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland. Clare also completed a judge’s associateship with the Honourable Justice Muir of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Prior to commencing at King Planning, Clare worked for 4 years as a construction lawyer, attaining the position of Senior Associate before taking up a role as inhouse legal counsel. She has worked in a variety of dispute forums, including Court of Appeal and Supreme Court litigation, adjudication under Security of Payment legislation and domestic and international arbitrations. She also has extensive experience drafting various forms of construction contracts. Together with her inhouse legal experience, she has worked for some of Australia’s largest construction contractors.
Clare joined King Planning as a claims consultant and works closely with the experts in the preparation of expert reports relating to delay and disruption claims. Bill Hutchinson is a Senior Consultant at King Planning. He is a highly experienced construction planner and programmer with more than 40 years’ experience in the industry. Almost 20 of those years have been spent at King Planning and 10 years were spent ‘on the tools’ as a Registered Builder.
During his time at King Planning, Bill has planned and programmed a diverse range of highly complex projects, including high-rise, commercial, industrial and large-scale hospital and correctional redevelopments. He understands the complex planning required to achieve the timely delivery of projects and his experience allows him to identify significant risks to a project and work with project teams to minimise those risks.

Michael is a Senior Consultant at King Planning and holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. His experience spans design, operations and maintenance, and construction over a period of more than 25 years.
Michael has over 17 years’ experience in managing building services design and construction including demonstrated skills in preparing project briefs, managing consultants, preparing and reviewing tenders and participating in completion and commissioning. Prior to joining King Planning, he was the Services Design Manager at one of Australia’s largest construction companies.
In his capacity as Senior Consultant at King Planning, Michael applies his experience to the area of project planning and programming and forensic delay and disruption analysis. Sherry Seresht is a Senior Consultant at King Planning. Sherry qualified as a Civil Engineer in Iran in 2002 and was accepted as a Professional Civil Engineer by Engineers Australia in 2009.
Prior to moving to Australia, Sherry worked as a design and site engineer and planner for construction companies in Iran between 2002 and 2011. She has extensive experience in the preparation of tender programs as well as the development of post-contract programs for large scale projects. She was routinely responsible for monitoring on-site production and subcontractor progress against contract programs and coordinating project control activities.

Nick Jones is a Senior Consultant at King Planning and a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
Prior to August 1997, Nick was the proprietor of a quantity surveying practice in England for ten years. During this time, he was primarily involved in servicing the requirements of building contractors in both the tendering and post contract periods of construction. After moving to Australia in 1997, Nick worked for one of Australia’s largest quantity surveying firms for 15 years, reaching the position of Senior Associate and managing the Post Contract department.
Nick’s experience as a quantity surveyor allows him to understand and interrogate the complex detail of projects.
